My father and I have met some and totally fallen in love ,and are interested in loaning/buying one/Part bred one when I outgrow Molly.Currently riding a young headstrong, testing cob but used to jumping thoroughbreds/warmbloods so plenty experience with different types of horseys :)

What are they like?

What are they good at?Dressage?Jumping?XC?

And how much would a 10 ish , fit, well schooled mare cost? More than £6000?

I used to have a 15.2 CB x TB and he was fantastic at everything he tried his hand at - dressage, cross country (his favourite, used to jump for fun), showjumping, hunting, hacking, heavy traffic, showing, babysitting youngsters ...

Don't know what one would cost nowadays though :)

There is a group on Facebook called Cleveland Bay Wales. You will get loads of information off the members.

They are like marmite you either love or hate them.
I for one LOVE them. Still have my old girl who is now 24 years young.
They make good hunters ,have the stamina to go all day!Make good showjumpers ,dressage horses and show horses.
They can be stubborn , not always brave on there own, although there are always exceptions! Create strong bonds with one person but will soon suss you out if you are a complete novice!
Remember they were originally bred as coach horses ,they would cover long distances in a team of four.Hence why they have the stamina to keep going long after you have tired....so dont pick a fight you cant win.
Seriously i love this breed and crossed with a TB they are fab...but not for everyone
