Clever, Clever Moose Man!!! Royal Norfolk report + pics.

Did i not say how nice he was! Only trying to offer advise and sports horses are supposed to have white browbands. But hey ho.

Yes you did and thank you.

Re. the white brow band - no thanks, that's a Moggy H think for youngstock classes across the board. Would hate to be accused of a) being a copy cat or even worse b) being a pretender.

Oh bad pony!! What are they doing to help her? Have you given her a good talking to, telling her that it is for the good of her breed and that she'd be a wonderful Mum?!!

You know something, there is a reason why I rarely post on this forum as a whole any more and a reason why I have rarely ever posted in here and have all but given up posting in breeding. Thank you for your good luck wishes, however they were meant and thank you so much for pointing out that my 3yo is youngstock - I might never have known that otherwise. Re. the browband, I think you need to police all the sportshorse classes round the country and inform about a third of the entrants that brass is not the done thing!

Sorry, you are wrong; plain bridles are the order of the day for any youngstock except for hack/riding horse or riding ponies. White is not correct but it happens to be a Hennessey trademark.

But beside that, you have happened to spoil a very nice post by your carping; give it a rest will you and appreciate what a nice youngster Hector is and the fact he's a credit to SN. I know you weren't the first to carp but you carped for the longest which is totally un-necessary and cruel.

Your horse is youngstock and it is the correct dress, not copying. Good luck with your horse.

Simsar, if you don't mind me asking... on your website, on the news page, there is a pic of someone showing a youngster in hand. The horse in question is not wearing a white browband. Or even a plain one. It's one of those velvet colour ones with the rosettes. Excuse my ignorance (I know nothing at all about showing) but if white is correct, why are you not using it? Oh, and there's a horse on the home page which is wearing the same. Thank you

Im sorry don't know what website you are looking at but no velvet browband has ever been used on a horse of mine. My horses are Irish Draught horses not Sports/comp so the bridle is plain.

I was only making a suggestion about TURNOUT, don't take my advise if you don't like it, you carry on harping on about what you don't know and I'll keep doing what I know to be correct, as I have done VERY well with it!! SN this is also why I don't post on here very often cause everyone jumps on your case for making a suggestion, it's pathetic!

Update!

In season, covered scanned, has ovulated and was washed out and will be jabbed for good measure!

Please cross everything!

I am delighted to hear you have done very well with your correct turnout - did you miss the photo of Hector as a yearling WINNING at county level in this thread with the dreaded brass browband? So it would seem we have both done well in our own ways eh?!?!

I have a suggestion of my own for you - maybe people would not take umbrage with you if your manner was significantly different. Did you notice that I had no problem with the other posters who mentioned the bridle? Did you also notice that I have stated that it is H's last show, so his dress is now somewhat irrelevant?!

As for being jumped on, I fear you have only yourself to look to for answers to that one.

WOOOOTTT!!!! I have absolutely EVERYTHING crossed for you hun!! x

From the year dot, white browbands have been the prerogative of the cavalry and usually, only those with connections to the military ever used them as a mark of respect. We used to have them on the Sunday headcollars for my old boss, a Major, but Robert Oliver suggests using one if your horse has a plain head - and Hector certainly doesn't have a plain head!

Not offended in the least. I was just curious. I suppose it might not be a velvet browband but it's not plain. On your website, simsarstud.com (I only post the link because it's in your profile) on the news page, the top pic on the right. Also one on your home page, but those keep shifting (it appears at the top on the right)

I know which pics you are talking about and can assure you they are plain brow bands! What you can see are BUCKLES!(small pics so hard to see). I apologise if I came across as rude I was only wanting to write a QUICK post to say well done and hopefully give some helpful advise which you did not need to take if you so wished. Sometimes it is hard to read peoples correct intentions when you can't see them face to face or hear the tone of there voice.

Ohhh, I see
smile.gif
Thanks for clearing that up for me. I've peered again at photo and I can see now that they're buckles

My mistake

Must put specs on!!

If you meant about sounding rude to me, no apology necessary. I always assume people mean well and are not intentionally rude/unkind as I do realise tone is hard to convey and read in text.
