Hi, I've just put me mare on regumate and she disagrees with taking it :o i wondered if anyone had any clever ways of getting her to eat it. I only have to get her to take 10ml. I tried it in sugarbeet which usually works for antibiotics but she must smell it as she won't touch the stuff :( tried putting garlic and carrots in but she sussed that out too. In the end i had to syringe it into her mouth but this will not work long term as she will get wise to it and i don't want her to drip it on me. i was thinking maybe i could hollow out a carrot and pop it in there, she does tend to inhale carrots so i don't think she would notice.
Thanks :)

Mint. Never Fails.

You can buy tubs of it in your feed shop but I grow it and pick it as needed. you can feed several measures of it at a time with no ill effect. Start with quite a lot and reduce it down...

Similar to hollowing out a carrot...hollow out an apple, but the bottom third of the core back in as a plug, then then add your regumate, then plug back up :)

You could try adding spearmint, molasses, honey or treacle. Spearmint might work well as it would probably mask the smell well as well as the taste. The carrot idea sounds good if you don't mind taking that extra time to hollow it out, although I imagine she'd still taste it once she'd eaten the carrot, so it might only work the first couple of times.

I quarter an apple, stick a screwdriver in it longways to make a deep hole then squirt meds in to the hole
