My horse has a very loud clicking noise coming from his back end in walk only, its worse some days than others. He is sound and never been lame or stiff and dosnt seem to bother him at all. I had him on glucosamine for around 6 months but has made no difference at all. Just wondering if any of you horses click and if their is anything else i can do?

p.s He is a 10 year old ex racer and is on 24/7 turnout.

My ponies neck clicks one after the other it's gross!

Usually in humans it is a tendon flicking over bone and advice in humans is if it doesn't hurt, don't worry ... Though that's a bit more complex to judge in horses!!

One of my mares has this. Although she's now retired with (partly) back related problems, the clicking had nothing to do with this and has never worried her or affected her way of going. I had the vet check it out once and, although offhand I can't remember the explanation, the bottom line was not to worry about it.
