Clicking tongues - why?

Life long clicker to horses .... also dogs, my bike and the car.

This is me! I frequently do it to the dog and he actually knows it means move on. But then again dog had spent so much time around horses he knows most of their commands anyway. I often find myself saying Get on, over and steady and he does it all. Tried it with husband. He isn't quite so adaptive and hates it when I click him on.

Can't bear it at a show (normally SJ when this happens!) when people in the crowd start clicking at the horse approaches a jump. Why? Shut up and watch!

I click, kiss and say 'go on' to my horse. More so on the lunge, but do sometimes use the same noises when riding. One of my trainers hates any form of clicking, so not allowed to do it in his lessons lol.
