Is it quite common ...? Notice it mainly in walk when first ridden and not as bad when warmed up and towards the end of schooling session.

what causes it he is only 6...? Some times it's alternate back legs that click..?

Thanks

Not only does H click as he walks, but so do I! So when I'm leading him round to the school, it's click, click, click, click! We sound like a right pair of old crocks! Doesn't seem to affect him in any way (mine just annoys me!)

My old loan horse did this. When he was vetted, that combined with a little stiffness in his hocks gave the vet enough cause for concern.

But - my current youngster has started clicking in the hocks when he's first ridden. I'm pretty sure it's just the cold as it goes away as he warms up :)

My lad clicks when his back feet are picked - even after a 25 minute walk from the field.

It wasn't a problem over the summer - and it goes off after he's been ridden.

I've noticed this in my mare too, usually random clicks in the field, I guess it is just when they haven't moved for a while then flex the joint, glad it is not just her as she is a youngun too!

One of the ladies at our yard was lunging her horse this afternoon and he was clicking for the first 4 at trot.

Must be the time of year - and the exceptionally wet ground.

I had a horse that clicked a lot in one of his hind legs. The vet told me it was just his tendon moving over bone and snapping into place and nothing to worry about. I had him several years, he was a very sound horse and he's still going strong in his new home

Air bubbles in the Synovial Fluid causes clicking noises in joints, normaly not something to worry and but that's not always the case.

My ISH' offside hind clicks - passed 5 stage vetting with it; was told not to worry.

Spoke to a friend about it and her advanced dressage horse has always clicked in both hinds so I stopped worrying.
