Hello. I've just bought this new saddle from my saddler this morning. It's a barnsby gp but I was wondering if anyone could identify it for me. If fits my wide withered flat backed Irish Draught perfectly however I have no ides what model it is. If anyone can help I'd be very grateful. Also are barnsby a comfortable? Are they good saddles? They don't seem to have a website.

Also can anyone recommend dressage saddles for a horse with wide wither/shoulder but flat back!

Thanks!

No site as they went bust. Latterly they were rubbish IME but at that stage they were just Barnsby, yours looks to be an older model which may be a better one.

I have a cliff barnsby saddle that someone gave me for free, 15years ago it was second hand already then . I've had stuff done to it twice over the years and it totally reflocked recently. I have done alot of miles in it, jumping, hunting etc and up until recently it has been brilliant. I love it and more than happy to spend on reflocking it hope it keeps going some more years yet!

I had a JA Barnsby to ride in at one point (which is what they started as as far as I know) and it was brilliant. That's why I went to them for my first ever new saddle. Unfortunately it never fitted either the horse it was made for or me. Cliff Barnsby was the middle years of the company. I don't know the time scale tho that's just what I've observed in passing. I'm sure Google would tell you that.

I would think yours will be fine. I would buy another older one if the kind I had as a kid came up for sale.

I think I have the same saddle for my Tb/Irish Draught but he is more like an ID like yours wide withers fairly wide back. I wanted a jump saddle but couldn't get one in my budget that fit and got this 2nd hand.

It suits us well I feel nice and balanced in it and my lower leg feels secure, it swung about in our old saddle. It is good to jump in and actually not bad on the flat.

I can't really reccomend a dressage yet, my saddle fitter said my other horses gfs isn't a bad fit with a correction pad so I use that occasionally untill I save up for one of his own.

They are nice quality saddles as long as you and your horse feel happy in it then that is the main thing.

Looks like a barnsby omega, super duper saddles and £1300 brand new, I've got one and I'm currently looking for another one

i bought a new barnsby gp 10 years ago for my wide warmblood cross and it was £860 the most i have ever paid for a saddle but it is worth it as it is the most comfortable saddle i have ever had...cant help with what model your is ...

I ride in a Barnsby saddle, the omega - I have a Connrmara. He wouldn't have the same withers as your horse but is flat backed.

For dressage I ride in a monoflap equipe which I prefer to my Barnsby but unfair to compare the two are they're such different saddles. Your saddle looks lovely.
