As the title. My horse is going to be on box rest for another two months. She is currently looking a bit like a woolly mammoth. She is an ISH so not a cob. She appears to be a bit itchy so have wondered if her winter coat is causing this. Any thoughts please?

I've previously taken a bib clip off a hairy native when on box rest at this time of the year, then also taken belly off too. Saves a hairy yeti from getting sweaty armpits etc as temps fluctuate very much in late autumn.
Perhaps a good bath to try and alleviate the itching first before any clipping, as long as you can get animal dry reasonably quickly, will be cleaner to clip, if you are going to clip.

If you have all the rugs anyway I don't see why not if you think she'll be more comfortable. the only caveat is if it will make her extra fresh if/when you have to walk her out or get back on board. Maybe a little bib or apron clip would be a good compromise?

I like the idea of a part clip, I might give that a go. She has specific spots that are itchy so might just turn those into an ‘original’ clip style
