hello, i have a pony with cushings, she is on prascend and is doing very well, however, when i went up yesterday she has been sweating and it was all dry and crusty between her legs and down her chest. she has a very long coat and last spring it took ages for her summer coat to come through. should i clip her? i know its unusually warm at the moment but my other one who has a thick coat has a low trace clip and he was not sweaty. i have summer rugs for her should it turn chilly again - just not sure what to so for the best, don;t want her warm and sweaty:( thank you

I'm considering clipping my Cushings horse as well. This is the 1st year she has been really really hairy. Only prob I have is she is 30yrs old and hates rugs - but she'll just have to put up with them.

i have done it! the weather is lovely here this morning so i bought her in and she has a low trace clip for now, i will see how she gets on - she thoroughly enjoyed being clipped :)

Yes...definitely clip.
Mine was diagnosed last year and i did a high trace clip and took the neck off in May. We then fully clipped him in June.
This year I will take the lot off in April - no messing about this year :D on my part.
Mine is stabled at night, and has a full wardrobe, however I'm holding off just yet as it's feezing cold at night still in Yorkshire

thank you all. i went up yesterday afternoon to find she was still sweating so been up today and took some more off, with the option of taking more off again should she still be uncomfortable, bless her:) curse cushings:(

Ooh weird! I just (two minutes ago) posted a new thread on the vet board about exactly this same problem - Britestar you could be describing my old girl!

I was going to clip my pony out in April once the nights aren't as cold... However may be going for a trace clip at the weekend at this rate as he's too warm. It's a pain though because it freezes overnight
