Is it too late in the year to clip now??? If I do how long will it take for the summer coat to come through?? How long does it take for a winter coat to fall off completely??

Depends on the horse. I used to clip my traditional cob all year round and she still looked beautifully shiny all year round, a couple of weeks after each clip for her to look "normal" rather than obviously clipped. She was very hairy though!

Not too late in my book. I blanket clipped in late April last year with my boy's summer coat coming through, and by the time his summer coat was completely through he looked fine. He's black too so very shiny and you couldn't see a clip mark at all.

In my book if Spring is early and warm and they are too hot you have no choice but to clip.

Yes def too late to clip, the summer coat will be through soon.

The event yard just up the road from me were busy with the clippers all weekend. It is so warm at the moment that the horses are sweating with only a little work. Better to clip in my opinion

Traditionally they say horses shouldn't be clipped after 31st January as it ruins the coat coming through but not sure how true this is.

If they are too hot do it. My old boy will be clipped in a couple of weeks as soon as more of his summer coat is through otherwise he just sweats far too much

i have just clipped my shettie as he was sweating just grazing in the field. hes 3 years old and was his 1st clip, he was very good!

if someone would be so kind as to tell me how to put pictures on and i willl share ...
