Lovely horse but agree that stubborn would put me off

I used to ride a 17hh shire very similar who was stubborn. He just planted his feet and wouldn't move. Just needed reschooling firmly. He was fine, not at all scary. He did buck once or twice in the school but they were kind of slow motion lol. I would do it again if big horses were my thing.

A season hunting would make a new horse of him.

Sorry but I don't think so! Stubborn is what Shires & Clydes do and they do it very well. They get very fixed ideas and tend to stick to them. My 1st Clyde mare had been taken regularly to the local gallops, where all the other horses took full advantage of the opportunity. They had to wait for her at the end, lol!

I would have had him like a shot if i hadn't gone and bought my ferrari and got used to that

.

My old loaner was a spit of this fella, in fact i thought it was my old boy and had to do a double take... See bottom of this post... http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/sh...rue#Post5383977

He very defo looks like a shire X summin and they are stubborn. However if you get their confidence and do a few good schooling sessions you don't need legs like Arnie

Just long ones

And boy do they have such a massive stride. Everyone else was cantering on a hack and we'd be trotting along side...

Poor boy. Lost interest huh? I do feel sorry for horsies that are in this position.
