Does anyone have any experience of clipping at this time of year (pretty novice owner here!)
My mare (little chunky cobby type) is out at grass through the summer. She had her last clip of the winter in February (a bit late I know but she really needed it).
She's not as fit as she was through the winter (was training hard for hunting), and now she's getting sweated up after an hour's schooling.
Current workload is an hours (hard) schooling which includes 2 full hour lessons 4 or 5 times a week plus 2-3 hacks of 90-120 mins.
We've got a 15 mile pleasure ride in a couple of weeks and I'm wondering about clipping her out for it.
Should she be rugged up at this time of year overnight or would most horses cope OK?
Ta!
