Being a bit stupid - how are clipper blades actually sharpened? Is there a sharpening device which can be bought so people could do their own?

Otherwise, wheres the cheapest online to send away 1 set of blades for sharpening? And again, being a moron - do I send both parts of the blade? (ie. the top one and the underneath one?). Ive never had blades sharpened because in the past Ive always just borrowed clippers so Ive never had to deal with the maintenece bit of owning my own (until now!).

I send my blades to shear ease to be sharpened, it costs £6.50 and my local feed merchant has shear ease freepost envelopes but I think you can order them from the website. They are super speedy - they've never taken longer than 2 days.

Oh, and yes, you send both the cutter and the comb.

Hi, Yes you send off both top & bottom blades. You can find a place on the net or Tack shops, Farm suppliers normally supply a service. Costs around £6.00 to sharpen & they are back within a day or so.

As for doing them yourself. You can get the machine but it costs hundreds of pounds, unless you are setting up a business I wouldn't bother.
