Sending my clippers blades off to clippersharp and was wondering if one set of blades is counted as 'one' or two, as there are two parts to the set, if you know what I mean! :)
Anyone else sent theirs off? If so, was it counted as one or two?

Just a thought that is worth a share with you. When packing up blades to post for sharpening be very careful how you address the envelope.

I sent 6 sets of Heinigar blades to R T Anthony a couple of years ago and I addressed the envelope 'R T Anthony Clipper Blades' followed by the address.

The parcel did not arrive with R T Anthony so I chased the post office, they told me I had to wait 15 days before they would look at the loss of the parcel. The parcel was not insured at the true value of the blades. The post office advised me eventually, that the parcel may have gone to Ireland to be opened due to the nature of the contents being classed as dangerous. Many weeks later the parcel did arrive at R T Anthony who duly sharpened them and returned them to me much to my relief. Had I not included the word 'blades' on the envelope none of this saga would have happened.

Also just to add after being horrendously ripped off by my local tack shop... a pair/ set of blades should cost about £6 or £7 to be sharpened and clippers about £35/ £40 for servicing.

Thanks all, this is costing £8.50 for sharpening. Hopefully will get there and back without any postal issues!
There are no clipper sharpeners near me (closest is 40min drive) so seems more cost-effective to post.

Like everything, it's gone up in price, and that's about average.

I always send my parcel signed for as I've lost blades in the past. And in the days when a company called Alan Talbot did sharpening by post, I sent off four sets of Wolseley blades and got four sets of Listers back. I rang up and explained the mix up, was assured my blades would be returned, sent back (at my expense) the four sets of Listers, and never got my blades back at all. So I'm in a state of nerves until they come back these days, but I use UK Countrystore and they send them back almost by return.

£7 a set where I post mine to and are usually posted back the same evening that he received them, I usually send 3 sets at a time to save on postage costs, I was always told to say that they were machine parts NOT blades. All mine are engraved a+a b+b etc to keep them in pairs, I keep a notebook of what pair of blades were used on what horse and what date 1st cut 2nd cut etc. Fine coated horses so usually 3 clips per pair of blades before they need sharpening

Shearease. Great customer service, I complained about a set of blades that appeared not to have been done. They re-did them but advised that as they were older blades they had probably come to the end of their "useful" life.

I’ve used shearease in the past, but now the blade man who collects my dog grooming blades also takes my horse ones.
He charges me £8 for a set of horse blades and a bit less for the dog ones (which is just as well as I usually send 20plus to him ?)

I have to re-sharpen after every clip so wouldn't be cost effective for me especially as I've not broken even on the clippers yet ?

I use Shear Ease and camt rate them higly enough - top blades & bottom blades have always been one set, if that helps.
?i only clip mine and usual once is enough , clip him on monday ?
