I have a small pair of Heiniger clippers with snap on blades which i used to give my Welsh D a chaser clip for years. Now I have a coloured cob and they just don’t cope with his coat (especially the white bits) even with new blades. They will do his feathers.
So please can you recommend me some clippers, preferably cordless. I haven’t a clue about tension. Is it possible to get ones that you don’t have to tension? TIA

i have some masterclip roamers - i use them on my boy who has very little coat, however, i have just clipped a little cob for one of the girls on the yard - he had a huge amount of coat and they easily clipped him.

I'm still a fan of the good old fashioned Lister Liberties. Had mine 15 years now and many horses full clipped including my heavy cobbo.

Heiniger Xplorers can easily manage a full clip on my cob, he has a ridiculously thick double coat so I'm very impressed with them

I've had many clippers in the past and so far Liveryman Black Beauty are the best, you can get a battery pack with them so no messing with the mains.

Our cob is clipped all year round.

I use these on my thick coated & hairy native, they are brilliant :) Being cordless makes them even easier!

I love the liveryman black beauty for large clipper but if you're looking for a smaller battery clipper the liveryman harmony plus has snap on blades I fully clip my miniatures with them & also heavy duty enough for my heavyweight cobs thick feathers & mane.

I have just bought some Lister Eclipse and they are great. More substantial than the light weight trimmers some people use but not as big as the Heiniger Xplorers I had and sold as I found them too big and unwieldy for clipping feathers etc.

Has anyone used Heiniger Saphirs with a wide blade? Would they work with a thick cob coat or do l need Xplorers? Had a look and felt the Xplorers were quite heavy.
