Hi, My clippers have packed in. The motor has gone on it
Have been quoted £195.00 to fix,

So was thinking I might just buy a new set, Just wanted to know what clippers you have and would recomend?

I did have a Liveryman Arena, I did like them was debating getting another.

Please help as so many out there and just so confuddled lol

I bought the Lister Liberty last year as I have an awkward horse and thought cordless may help. Best decision ever. I did him and another horse in just over an hour. On one charge and with no trouble at all.

ive got a pair of Wolseley swift mains clippers and a bought a pair of Heiniger cordless clippers a few years ago. Both are excellent for thick coats, and the cordless ones only take about an hour to fuly charge and last over an hour when in use - i fully clipped 2 horses on one battery.

I've presently got Liveryman Mustangs, Wolsley Swans ( amazing clippers!), ancient set of Listers and a cordless pair of Moser Avalons. ( I do clip commercially, not just a clipper collector!) The best clippers I've ever owned were my Liveryman Arenas and if I just had my own horses I'd have another set of them as the balance in my hand was great and they never heated. Also had a set of Wolseley Swift but they heated really quickly despite all kinds of fiddling with the tension.

Remember your blades from your Arenas will fit Liveryman and Wolesley clippers so at least you won't have to replace them too! Just added up it would cost me nearly £700 in blades alone!

liveryman harmony and a pair of wahl avalons. basically the same, except the avalons are battery and the harmony's are mains powered.

nice quiet clippers, cope with most coats so long as its clean, and no tensioning of blades!

Reading your posts.

I have a pair of Premier 3000C which are very similar to the Hauptner 2000.

These are supposed to be commercial type clippers.

I clip 1 show cob, who is clipped all year round - approx every 6 to 8 weeks- from top to toe excluding her tail, but everything else comes off - so she does not have a vast bulk of hair to come off.

My partner does the clipping and does a lovely job with no tram lines or anything and even gets her legs and fetlocks etc looking neat and trimmed, and hogs her mane - a really smart job. She can be a bit greasy on her legs.

The blades are oiled very regularly thoughtout the clip and the tension checked regulary (2.5 turns as per the instructions).

Therefore, why do I find that one set of blades (Lister mediums) are only doing one clip - which takes about 2.5 hours? (I send my clippers for professional sharpening with Peasridge or Clippersharp after every clip)

My old Wolsley Swift (now sold on sadly) seemed to do a happier job and yet arent promoted as "commercial" clippers.

Any ideas clipping experts out there?
