Put this in NL but it's disappeared to page 3 in about 10 seconds flat ;)

Anyone any idea where I can get my clippers repaired in Scotland? Mine went kaput after I'd done my first rough strip up the gullet . They are about 15 years old, but really lightly used, so I'm hoping not to have to spend another £300 replacing them!

I'll post them away if I have to, but they are heavy (and of course expensive) so rather have them done locally. Central Scotland or Aberdeen area both fine (or anywhere between Edinburgh and Aberdeen actually).

My ridiculous looking pony will thank you :)

Do you want to borrow mine? Although mine are very old, very noisy and maybe not so handy for a pony who doesn't love being clipped...! You're welcome to them to try though if you like?

Afraid I don't know about local places, have only sent away blades to clippersharp. Posting them may be best option though. Shouldn't be too horrific costwise to post them.

That's very kind, thanks :). My plan was to clip her in small bits until she settles with it, but didn't mean QUITE such a small bit . I may take you up on that just to tidy her up, but will see if I can get them fixed first.

She was very brave though. For the 10 seconds it lasted :p

Postage cost is a worry, but I'm also loathe to trust them to Royal Mail :o

Sometimes if you phone the manufacturer direct they can tell you if they use a local agent or not. I got that when my trusty old Heinigers went a few years back.

Other thing to try is look up small electrical engineer type of guys as they are all geeks when it comes to motor things and all that. Depends how old they are and if you can still get the parts for them.

Alas though I only got another 2 years out my ancient ones before having to splash out on a new set.:( They are available to borrow if required :D

i send mine off through east of scotland farmers - not sure where they send them though - but you'll prob find any local farm shop who sell clippers (horse or cow/sheep;)) will send them away for you :)

You are more the welcome to borrow mine, they are really quiet and light weight, but i have to say that clipper sharp are really good although you do have to put your faith in Royal Mail which i can understand may not be something you want to do!!!

I'm in the same boat as you :( My Avalon's broke so my friend attempted to clip Casper yesterday with her big clippers and they broke too - my pony is sporting a rather patchy hair cut at the moment!!!

There is a place in Carluke called Technagroom that I was going to try rather than posting mine!

Been on a conference all day so haven't been back on; but just wanted to say thanks for the replies. Especially for all those lovely offers of loans - that's another 3 pairs to break ;). I think that's the worry though isn't it, I loaned mine to a friend once before and really wasn't happy about it. If they had got broken, who'd pay for it :o. For a nanosecond I considered just paying someone to do it, but given my girl is a bit of a scaredy-cat, I need to do it in small doses. That'd be expensive to pay for

FlyingCoo I will call Wolsely, good idea, and failing that Dad might look at them. They are Swifts, not sure that the design can have changed that much over the years? But you never know what marvels of technology they have introduced recently . Lasers to mark the lines would be good :)

Seems a bit weird that no-one in Scotland does repairs though
