Clippers for thick cob feathers

I use Heiniger Xlporer clippers on my yak like cob but he hates having his legs clipped and won’t tolerate them. I’ve tried the liveryman classic trimmers for his legs which he is better with but they just aren’t good enough to get through the feathers. So does anyone have any advice as to a clipper inbetween the Xplorer and the liveryman trimmer that are really quiet, low vibration that will get through cob feathers?

They should easily get through. Have you washed and dried the legs. They won't cut if wet or dirty. And are the blades really sharp? I had the classic ones and they were fine on my clyde.

Unfortunately he has really coarse thick feathers so the liveryman classic trimmers just aren’t up to the job, even if his feathers are clean. I need something a bit more robust than those, but not as big as the heiniger xplorers (which would work great but he won’t tolerate them on his legs).

Seconding the recommendation. They have no trouble getting through Blue's feather and aren't much louder than my trimmers. With the battery pack, they hold enough charge to do a full clip, even allowing for me being incredibly slow and incredibly bad at trimming.

Yep, third in line to recommend them!
They definitely aren’t heavyweight clippers but they are the only thing I’ve been able to clip my pony’s feathers with and her feathers are super thick... people comment on how thick they are...

I also use them to hog her equally thick mane and they work well.

Easier said than done, I know, but I spent a long time de-sensitising my cob to the Lister Stars, which are frankly noisy. I needed serious clippers to get through his feathers.
