Hi all,
In need of some advice/reviews etc on clippers.
I am looking for some new clippers due to my very old pair dying last year and have narrowed my search down to the Liveryman Black Beauty or Lister Legend (or even Lister Liberty).
I have two horses, one of which has to be clipped under vet sedation, so time is really tight. Last year I borrowed the Lister Star from a friend, but found they kept cutting out and over heating, even when I was oiling them every ten minutes - Which has put me off buying these - Looking for something a bit more reliable.
I currently have a pair of Lister Libretto trimmers/clippers which I love, and have even done a whole horse with these before.
Don't really want to spend over £300, and I know the Lister Legend is at the top of this scale but just after some reviews of people which have used these and the Liveryman before.
Thanks

The Liveryman Black Beauty are a good machine. They are quite noisy but the variable speed on them is a huge plus.
The Lister Legend is slightly quieter than the black beauty and more heavy duty. I personally prefer the Legend between the two but given as you already have a libretto I would be tempted to get the Liberty. The standard 'popular' pack costs about £310 but you can buy just the hand piece if needed.

I would go with a Liberty over a Legend any day of the week. Never impressed with the Legend, always overheating and felt they never lived up to the "Legend" name! Black beauty is Chinese and sold by both Liveryman and Masterclip. They looked quite good initially and I saw a couple sold that customers were pleased with but long term they are still a bit of an unknown. The battery packs had some teething troubles when they were launched.Hopefully sorted by now. So still be liberty for me as the best one.

Thankyou for your replies.
Have you used the mains version of the Lister Liberty? As this is only 12v do you think this is just a powerful as other mains clippers?
I'm now trying to decide between the two Listers.
Thanks

The liberty with the mains adapter is fine, good power, even though only actually running on 12 volt. Bonus is,that if Neddy stamps on lead,it is not mains,so much safer. Biggest bug with mains adapter is the lead connectors. If any faults occur, usually connector damage. Have seen quite a few connectors squashed. But still rate it as a good machine.
