Hi, am looking for a set of cordless clippers to clip 2 horse (full clip). One has a fine coat, the other quite a thick one and can't decide between 3 different sets:
1 - masterclip royale - looks really light but can't decide whether it will cope with the thicker coat
2 - wahl avalon - as above really and have read some good reviews;
3 - huntmaster heavy duty - will cope with both coats but quite a bit heavier at 1.1kg (twice wieght of the others.

so, what's more important - the weight or the wattage of the engine? Would obviously prefer it lighter if the 80watt models will cope with a thicker coat.

What do people think / recommend?

thanks

Sorry bout that...... Called this farming supplies place and he explained it all to me. Asked me about the type of horse, what kind of clip ect. And advised based kn that. He was so helpful! I have the invoice somewhere if youd like the details... Oh and they charged ALOT less than buying them from an equestrian retailer.

do you find them heavy - they're the same weight as the huntmaster but quite a bit more expensive. Was hoping to spend around the £200 mark

No not heavy at all.... They are heavier than corded ones but thats to b expected.... I use them all the time as my cob gets mud fever and has to have his legs clipped super short. I paid 240 delivered for mine 3 years ago... I was eyeing them up for ages but couldnt find them that cheap anywhere, i snapped the blokes arm off!!!

good buy - they're over £300 now! Might well go with the huntmaster then if the weight isn't as much of an issue as I thought it might be. They come with a spare battery pack and two sets of blades so look a good buy at just under £200

They were 300 everywhere else wen i bought them!!! The spare battery is a very useful thing i imagine as when doing a full clip i do sometimes run out of battery and have to finish the next day.... Its 80quid to buy a spare heiniger battery

Sorry to butt in but I'm browsing the market for some cordless ones as my youngster is too nervous around my big heavy duty ones!

Does anyone know what the livery man harmony clippers are like?

Heinegar every time. The cordless market is dominated by the Lister Liberty which is a good machine, but it is very expensive once you purchase the battery pack etc. The Heinegar is the next best at a better price. Plus you get the benefit of better quality that the Chinese rubbish being touted under lots of spurious brand names. A proper 12 month warranty and best of all. Clipper blades which are made from top quality steel. Not recycled Chinese Battleships. A second battery with the Heinegar is a wise investment, also ensure your blades are always properley sharpened, which will ensure less tension on the motor and longer battery life.
