Looking for some advice really. I have a set of liveryman calypso clippers. Not had any problems with them and my pony was good as gold to clip. I sent the blades of for sharpening after his 1st clip this year, then when i went to do his 2nd, i found every so often the blades would snag in a patch of hair and pull. His coat was clean and like i say, it was his 2nd clip so it wasn't overly long either. I thought maybe it was something i was doing wrong but today a friend tried to use them and they did the same to her. Both horses were unhappy, my good-to-clip pony became a whirling, kicking demon so the hair was being pulled and hurting!

I am going to call the company that sharpened them today and see what they say but does anyone have any other ideas for what could cause it? Am i doing something wrong??!

If they run for a good length and then jam occasionally try tightening the tension just a tad.
On the other hand I would be surprised if there is a firm out there with a 100% record. Just phone them and let them know, they're sure to prefer to have them sharpened again free of charge rather than a potentially unhappy customer. The only thing on a callypso clipper that would cause anything like the problem you describe is blunt blades or a lack of tension. Any other related problems with that particular clipper have no middle ground, they either cut fine or not at all.

Ooh shearease ... U guys sharpened them lol! They were cutting absolutely fine but on a couple of patches just caught and he really wasn't happy. Ok ill give the office a call. Thanks guys :-)

there is an area on my girls back end where for some reason clippers tend to snag, think the hair goes in weird directions. especially as she is spotted and the spot hair is a little different. if you change the angle you clip at it seems to work. however, if you didn't find this with the first clip then something must be wrong with the clipper blades of tension.

I have been in touch with shearease and had a lovely PM from them apologising for the inconvenience. They are going to have another look at them and have offered a voucher too. Lovely guys, really apologetic and great service so thank you :-)

The way a company deals with a problem speaks volumes I think

Nice to see a good old fashioned apology and an offer to put things right :)

I've been sending my clipper blades to Shear Ease for nigh on 17 years now (Heineger Handy blades) and have never ever had anything but brilliant service from them and their turnaround speed is second to none. I live approx 300 miles from them and have absolutely no connection to the company. Wouldn't use anyone else.
