I have some Liveryman Arena Plus clippers that ive probably done less than 10 clips with. I found that they pull on the horses coat even with fully sharpened blades and a service! Im not impressed at all. Ive played around with the blade tension etc but nothing sems to make a difference. Also i find they viabrate far too much for my liking. So i have a small budget to get some new ones as i have a new youngster thats never been clipped before and she is very sensitive. Also she is getting so hairy and sweaty already that i need to clip her asap but dont want to use my existing and upset her. So any suggestions on a set? They dont need to be heavy duty, i have 3 horses but clip them max twice a year, all have nice clean coats not too thick. I was looking at a battery type clipper as these seem to be the quietest and lots of people seem to rate the liveryman harmony. What do you all recommend/suggest??? I think it might be an ebay job for some 2nd hand ones :(

I have been clipping for about 40 years and have always used Lister. I have the Lister Liberty at present which have a battery pack. The only down side is they do heat up quite quickly so if you re doing more than one horse its best to have a cup of tea between clipping :) Hope this helps you.

Thanks Gilbey, yes ive used the liberty before when mine were in being serviced and thats when i realised how horrible mine actually were! The only problem is 2nd hand Liberty's just dont seem to come up very often and i cant afford a new pair what with the new youngster needing a new saddle :( but yes that is helpful thanks :)

I may be able to compare a few clippers for you, trouble is I'm not sure of your budget (small budget?) or what you need them for. I'll subscribe to this thread so if you need help just ask!

Hi thanks, well they must do a full clip, i have three horses but only clip in winter, two only have one full clip and the other will have two. none of them have thick coats. My youngster hasnt been clipped before as ive not long had her and she is quite sensitive so something with quite low noise and vibration. Im stuck on budget but nothing really over £200 hence me not minding a well looked after 2nd hand pair?
