Finally decided that I REALLY need to buy my own set instead of beg borrowing stealing clippers off friends - especially now people are asking me to clip their horses. Don't necessarily need anything too heavy duty as pony is fairly fine coated - doesn't need to be whisper quiet either, pony is easy to clip BUT... Have to confess to knowing nothing about clippers. don't really want to spend more that £150 but more than happy to buy second hand.

What should I be looking for, what are the best brands of clippers? THANKS!
 
Lister Neon. you can't go wrong with these, medium duty clippers, small handgrip and pretty light in weight. I have clipped over 200 horses with mine. even though they are getting tired now they are very good for doing very straight lines. I also have the lister laser 2 but they are much heavier and larger grip. fantastic for doing the bulk but not so good for doing lines as they have an air cooled head and blow the hair everywhere! being a perfectionist clipper i use both!!
Oh and forgot to add, if anyone wants their horse clipped in north devon, pls contact me - i've already clipped 60 already!!
 
I've had my Premier 3000's for a couple of years and they've been great.

Buyer beware!! Just be careful on e bay, especially if buying second hand. I see a lot of clippers which people bought as "bargains" on e bay, I have even had customers, who have sent a clipper into me for a quote, which has proved too expensive and seen it on e bay for sale a fortnight later for £100. If you can find one, a Wolseley Swift is a good first clipper. But avoid the early MkI (no spares now) look for serial numbers starting in 07. Neons are ok, but prone to breaking a lug in the head. If you see anything you fancy PM me and i will give some honest advice.
