About 2/3 years ago i bought some Masterclip clippers from Ebay for about £120 new.
They are fantastic! So many people have had to borrow them after their much more expensive clippers over heated or broke or just couldnt get through a pony coat!
They are noisy and vibrate a bit more than some but cut through my very hairy pony easily and i love them!...unfortunately i have an clip phobic horse now and they are too loud for him! I'd recommend them tho'
There are so many but I would just say that you should always get the very best you can afford, learn how to tension them properly and then look after them. A good set of clippers will last you for many years.
(mine are rather aged Liveryman Mustangs, which are total workhorses but quite noisy!)
for me its got to be Wolseley Swift mains clippers and Heiniger cordless clippers. Both fantastic and cope with the thickest coat.
tips:
make sure you oil them regularly and make sure the tension isnt too tight to make the blades dont over heat.
I've got some Masterclip rambo's which after having a faulty set, they replaced for me very very quickly and they are good, but before that i had a set of Lister lazer's which where amazing, i clipped 150 horses over 5 years with them before they gave up last year, when i get some spair cash i shall sell the masterclips and get another set of listers, as for tips, Never clip in arteficial light as your end up with train lines more the you do in day light, Donot risk getting hurt. i always have a bucket of pony nuts and a twitch on hand, if even with a twitch they are bad then get vet to sedate, if u wish to semi sedate yourself DONOT use ACP, Sedaline is far safer,
I have liveryman harmonys as I needed a quiet quiet battery operated clipper. Got my clipper phobic horse fine to clip. Might struggle with a thicker coat/cob feathers though.
got liveryman mustang to noisey and get to hot fast also got a pair of heiniger cordless theyr great noy noisey and cope very well on my cobs coat infact i love em
