Im quite uncertain whether i am putting this in the right section however there are a myriad of sections its could possibly go in haha !
Basically im wanting to clip my cobby and i want to buy my own (fed up of paying people )
Im on a tight-ish budget but i came across these and they seem pretty fantastic for the price? and doesn't seem like some dangerous machinery from hong kong that i've seen on there ! Thanks

Don't know anything about these, but when I was looking for mine I found it really helpful to understand the size and weight of any clippers. I found some of them to be just too heavy and one pair I looked at just blew all the hair in my face!
I would go on websites like Clippersharp and look at the spec of some of the mainstream brands and then do a comparison to see exactly what you are getting. Need to also check that you can get the blades sharpened in all the normal places
It can be confusing I agree, so good luck

If you put a search in you'll find lots of threads about clippers, shearease and the engineer give good advice you could just look for posts by them

Hi, these are a poor Chinese copy of Heinegar Clippers and I would be very wary of purchasing them. I know budgetary constraints are hitting all of us, but I would avoid E Bay purchases, due to the lack of any backup. These are very similar to the Maxtra the GTS and the Liveryman Calypso. You will get what you pay for and I would always reccomend a machine from a major manufacturer. Wolseley,Heinegar, lister etc they also benefit from higher quality blades made with good quality steel.

Try www.clippersharp.co.uk

Or www.ukclippers.co.uk

Both worth a look.....

A great thaks for all the replies ! i've taken heed of your advice and ive been looking at either the Liveryman or one from the masterclip range :)
have you had any experience with the liveryman harmony clippers, and how do you think they would cope with a quite thick cobby coat !!

I bought masterclip ones last year to use them on two of mine that havent been clipped Tehya re loud but my nervy mare didnt flinch.
If your horse doesnt mind the sound then I rate them

I've had my Liveryman Harmony clippers for about 4 years now. And this year I've clipped 2 cobby types, 2 warmblood types and 1 TB. Absolutely no problem although I did buy a different set of blades for them. The power pack clipped to your belt is brilliant, no trailing leads. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I've got the Rambo and the Royale (kept the small ones for the dogs)
i like them, came with spare bladees. used for full clip and bib last year twice. this year 2 blankets and 2 bibs. They're well upto the job and go through thick coats easily

But there are bargains out there - I bought a set of Liveryman Mustang clippers about 8 years ago from ebay - rrp £350. I paid £150. I've never had a minutes bother from them except when they began to run hot. I followed The Engineer's advice and they are back to running beautifully again.
Just look for a known brand.

I just ordered the coarser blades from my local tack chop. It's a 5 second job to remove one blade set and insert the other. Nope - never get too hot - bit warm maybe but never hot. I keep an old 1" paint brush in the carrying case the clippers come in and about halfway through brush all excess hair off and re-oil. And it's dead easy to do a full clean up after a clipping because, as before, the blade set just slides off. I wash the blade set under the hot tap, leave to dry thoroughly on kitchen paper, re-oil and re-assemble. Easy peasy!
