Clipping a half head

Is it best to try and do a straight line starting mouth to ears direction or to sort of cut upwards if that makes sense? not been able to clip in so long its like my first time again!!
which will leave the neatest lines and be easiest?
 
The hair generally lies facing down so you will have to cut upwards. Its actually very easy to get the line correct on the face if you go from the base of the ear to the corner of the mouth.
 
Thanks- am slightly worried about it! Had to abandon clipping today and go to the vets to get some sedalin which hopefully will give me an easier time tomorrow!
 
I put horse's bridle on and chalk a line down face where headpiece and cheakpieces go. I then clip towards the chalk line to make a neat clip edge. That way when horse is tacked up the head looks neat with the clip line running under or parallel with the bridle. I suppose the line does run from just below ear to mouth.

Hope it makes sense.
 
I leave his head unclipped. He must be ticklish under his chin and he sort of bobs his head as I try to get under his chin and jaw line and it always ends up a mess so I leave it on now.

I think a line down the cheekpieces looks better than clipping the whole head, it always looks a bit patchy to me but then that might be my clipping............
 
I always leave half a head simply because clipping around the eyes and doing ears is so fiddly and time consuming!

I clip upwards as you described to make a line that matches the bridle - if you go a bit wrong it doesn't matter because you can correct it with the next clip

Yeah, I dont really like whole clipped heads much- although a girl at my yard recently had hers professionally clipped and they look great- I wouldn't like to go around the eyes myself tho'.
Well fingers crossed for me and my poor patchwork pony tomorrow!
