My youngster is a nightmare to clip!
We brought him clipped and apparantly he was fine :S!
We have clipped him twice since i have had him (being a year ago now) inwhich two of us got kicked and we had 3 people holding, twitching and clipping.
I have decided to get him sedated tomorow as the vet is coming out to do jabs, so i will start with his back end (his worst place) first before the sedation wears off. I will stick the chifney in aswell as its only two of us about so no one can twitch him.

Just wondered if anyone had any miracle advice? I suppose this is something i am going to have to work on, its just not fun when a 17hands of horse chucks him self about and at the same time being very quick with his back end! (we do pick his feet up as well but he is good on 3 legs!!)

Thanks

Just be patient, dont get irate with him. I know it can be frustrating but me and my boss have been known to take over 3 hours to do a naughty horse before.

Yeah thanks we are patient and firm with him. Obviously when he kicks i really tell him off, but other than that we are talking and stroking him

Like i say i guess it will take time..

Have you tried quieter ones??? For example a pair of liveryman Harmony clippers??? I clip as part of my living for people and I clipped a mare the other who I was told was a complete cow and had to be sedated otherwise she's kill me and I clipped her with no sedation, just me and her, the only time I need help was doing a bit under her chin so someone came and held her... Might be worth a try if you can get hold of some quieter ones??

My boy is a bit of a nightmare to though has improved since last year when he just threw himself around. I chuck some sedalin in him which normally takes the edge off him (though that's it!) and twitch for top of neck/head. I have the Liveryman Harmony clippers which he is much better with.

It just takes patience and time, I'm hoping we'll get there eventually!
