Not my favourite job, if hair gets on my face I end up with itchy eyes to point i could scream! Luckily ponio is obliging and will stand without even being tied up to clip To spread the pain and due to limited time I did half tonight (full neck and body to back of saddle area) but have the joys of rear end and face to clip and a re-hog tomorrow! Using cordless clippers which are lovely and quiet, loads of battery time but not the quickest!

Was trying to avoid re- clipping but he sweated on an hours hack with couple canters today!!! Flipping warm weather!

Who is sharing the pain?

I clip every 3 weeks all year round. I hate it and I just added taking her face off too. It takes me 2 hours to do the whole horse. Every time I tell myself I will do legs today (an hour) and body tomorrow but usually I get to the end of the legs and think just get it over and done with.

Glad its not just me, whole lot takes about 1.5hrs but I leave legs on, do half face and blend into top half, did do full face once but I am not allowed to clip back of ears (you can grab ears, scratch base of them but not allowed to scratch back of actual ear as v ticklish there, pain getting mud off! )

Hats off to you, all year round, you deserve a medal or a straight jacket :-) !!!!!!!!!!

I've got 14 'hairy' ponies to keep on top of the clipping (work, not my own). I hated clipping, mainly due to the fact I wasn't very good at it! Now, with all this practice, it is more of a proud achievement when my lines are getting straighter, so I don't hate it as much...
Just waiting on some blades to be re-sharpened, then I've got a few customers waiting!!

Ach wheesht! I've done over 100 full clips already in 2 months! I live, eat and breath horse hair at this time of year, from October to the end of January and after that it is just cat hair tidy ups which are even more annoying as it takes longer to set up the clippers than it does to clip the ruddy horse! Lol!

It takes me 45mins to do full body, half head and legs left on.

If I got paid per clip I wouldnt need to work for the rest of the year but alas it is part of my job :-/

Makes my one to clip seem like nothing! Would love mains clippers especially when doing top of arse, but alas no electric! Oh the joys!

Ha ha I did the entire horse and she decided I may NOT clip her left ear! I told her you can't have only a hairy left ear and she said ok human....

YOU ARE NOT CLIPPING MY LEFT EAR!!!

I ultimately won but had to twitch her which I was sad about as I love her too much to twitch her!

I just hate it. I'm allergic to horses anyway. Clipped off hair is torture! I have to clip mine about every 3 weeks this time of year, and now there's 2 of the beggars that need doing.

Millie has everything off, Kira is just a high blanket. I do heads, chests and armpits first - they are the fiddly bits that I hate, and then the rest seems like a doddle. I can get the whole thing done in under an hour for Millie. Kira only takes about 15 mins as she only has a half head and is well behaved enough to let me put my giant clippers on her face. Millie demands tiny rechargables.

I hate winter!!! *atishoooo*

I clip all year round - albeit with more time between clips in the summer - not one of my favourite jobs!

I taught my daughter to clip, however I am such a control freak that I tend to end up doing it myself

Maybe we need one of those paper suits that include head and mask, the type used in sterile environments! Sat here even now with itchy eyes, they will calm down but flair up again tomorrow when I finish off! Just as I think I am safe the wind picks up or changes direction and the hair blows straight I my face!

Last time hogged luckily checked face before going into tesco metro, his short black stubble was stuck all over my face! Lady stubble!!!

When I can be bothered I wear my spraying suit for clipping. Usually i can't be bothered tho and tell myself I'll "be really careful". Yeah right. 0.005mm cob hair everywhere.

I clip in a full waterproof suit on, face mask and goggles. I really need to get a set of ear plugs but every time I go to the shops I forget lol!

What kind of goggles? That's the part of the puzzle I'm desperate to solve but I can't ever find anything suitable. I either can't see full stop or fog up! I can just about cope with itching everywhere except my eyes :(

I hate it in my eyes and face as well I find doing under the belly and the face gets you the worst, I did one of mine this week and try to do it on a day with hardly any wind it does help, I stupidly clipped in a t shirt once my bra was full of hair and other places that you really don't want itchy horse hair to be :)

my hair also ends up full of horse hair which is so not a good look as it's short and very blonde so the horse hair really is noticeable I literally have to get in the shower after clipping.

I tend to take a couple of anti histamines an hour or so before clipping as I always end up with red itchy and raw eyes :(

I hate clipping, no way could I clip every 3 weeks!

Sprat has to be IV sedated, so ends up very pricey (vet came out yesterday to sedate, had to use 2 x dose. Pretty sure he is part Welsh D, part rhino...)

I'm going to keep him as rugged as possible without him being uncomfortable, but imagine I will be getting the vet out in another month or two to do the same again!

Had to do my 2nd clip on two of them already, the other one needs her 2nd clip but am trying to hold off...

Youngest and oldest stand nicley for their clips but the middle is an abolute nightmare. Have tried clipper training him on a daily basis and makes no difference. Happy to have his mane hogged - can just leave him in his stable with no headcollar on and he falls asleep. Try and touch him with clippers anywhere else? Be prepared to get trampled on! Unfortunately he just has to think work and drowns in his own sweat, so he needs a full clip. Why is it always the difficult ones?!

I have the opposite problem; bought horse hogged. He HATES being hogged. Happy to stand and be clipped everywhere but head/neck and legs.

So after a year of clipper training and getting nowhere, I am giving up and growing his mane out!

I've done my highland for the third time today and still got a trug tub of hair off him!!! Full body and half head, but left the legs on. Hopefully that will be the last time, but sending the blades off for a sharpening anyway just in case. I actually quite like clipping so doesn't bother me and he's an angel to do ... just stands like a rock. Happy to pop round if anyone wants theirs doing ... just let me know.

Did half hour last night but still took over 1.5 hrs this morning, not helped by fact I had to hog as well and attempted and failed to do half face and blend to rest of face so last half hour wass spent petting pony and feeding it pony nuts to coax head down to do full head! Tidied up tail and spent time going over body trying to ride of clip lines in hope will be able to hunt Saturday (high winds and heavy rain forecast not my idea of fun!)

Only failure is ears, allowed to clip round base but not fluffy ears themselves, can't complain though as don't even need to tie him up to clip, he just gets bored (dont blaim him)
