Hi
Just wondering if anyone clips their horses all year round? My girl was transported from Spain to the UK 9 years ago, as we used to live there, and has never grown a proper summer coat since. She's fully clipped out (apart from legs and half face) from October through until around February every year, and we've tried using one of those shedding tools for helping them moult, but to no avail! I'm really tempted to start clipping her throughout the summer, as she's sweating just standing in the field and foaming within 10 minutes of riding (she's hacked out for a couple of hours a few times a week), but I don't want her to have to wear a rug all summer as she's out 24/7 from around April - November and not a big tough cob type (she's an Arab/Andalucian). I just think that she would be so much more comfortable being clipped out, but I don't know very many people who clip all year round. We are getting her tested for Cushings soon as we're not sure exactly how old she is because she was a rescue, but she's in her late teens/early twenties. Thanks for any advice/opinions in advance!
