How is the best way to do this?
_Gina_ has done a wonderful job of fully clipping Bodey tonight (I’m showing on Sunday) but obviously doesn’t want to get to close to his eyes (he normally has a half head). We have trimmers but they don’t really cut as short as the clippers, and don’t go though the hair that well. So he has slight black circles at the moment.

Thanks in advance,
Jo

Hiya i do alot of clipping of heads and there is usually a slight ring around the eye which u cant do alot about! I wouldnt use the trimmers as it does look silly with different lenghts of hair, dont worry everyone is in the same boat and roll on summer!

Oh thanks for that, black circles it is then, he, eh! Any tips for clipping ears? Bodey is ok with the backs of his ears but really doesn’t like the front of his ears clipped, probably the noise and vibration?

Oh and how do you clipped around his willy bit or do you use scissors? Sorry loads of Qs.

With the ears i clip as much as possible and then use scissors to trim the hairs coming out, but obviously dont go too deep as they need the protection! The willy can be completly clipped, just watch yourself as it can be very tickly! But once a horse has a full clip they do look very smart so it is worth all the hassle! Good luck for your show sunday x

Ditto that - squeeze the ear together and either use scissors or trimmers to go along the edge. That way you take off any stray bits of hair that are going to poke out of his ears, but don't risk taking the protection away (and it leaves a neat edge too).

Also agree that the circles round eyes are just part of the 'look'

I end up with huge ones because my mare has the longest eye-whiskers in the world (they get stuck under her cheekpieces if you aren't careful!) and I *refuse* to cut them off
