Clipping? Do your own?

(Please ignore the track marks.... they faded after a couple of weeks I swear!)

Keep the clipper blades flat on the same level, go 1/4 way over your clipped bit for each next stroke - always trying to keep the clippers on the same level even though it's hard going round gut! Then cross your tracks in 3 different directions all against the hair and you shouldnt have any tram lines when your done.

I do my own, have had my own clippers for about 18yrs (same ones! although had to replace the battery pack after 13yrs). When just retired 22yo was younger and stabled at night he had the full monty, head and legs off but with a saddle patch, he is super furry in winter. First few years of living out he was hunter clipped and then last few years it was just from stifle to wither.

I'm pretty useless but my grey is pretty nervous about it so I tend to pick a quiet evening and do it myself. We did an ok job last year with some mega quiet clippers that took ages as they were small to do a full clip. Luckily he has a super silky coat so anything glides through. I try do mine early sept so I can give them a good bath first to get rid of the first 'lot' - though this year they've not grown much coat yet so I'm giving it another couple of weeks yet!
