Yes, much easier on the clippers if you can scissor the worst off - but take care you dont get blisters! This saves the clippers from getting too blunt and also from them dragging on the long hair.
Am sure it will be fine.
CF and clippers do not go together, a vet is required with IV snore-juice too.
When he came to me in mid Feb he had glorious shire-type feather from the knee and totally over his hoof wall to the ground all the way round.
I scissored most of them off & friend came in to clip the next day when vet had sedated him (CF, not friend lol) He does look so much smarter
Haha I'm yet to see what she makes of clippers .... apparently good but.... she's got them from knee to ground, can't believe they are going but have to :-(
Did you go from the knee? I'm not sure how far to go up the leg as she's really hairy all over and concerned she's going to look very silly!
Can you play with the clippers 1st? Run them down & round legs off, then with them running but not clipping.
If any issue, then repeat daily till she is okay with doing it as there will be nothing worse than a scissored pony with clumps !!
That's a good idea, my blades should be back Friday so could play with her today and tomorrow before the real thing Friday eeck! She has very ugly legs under the feather so won't look great either way :-O
