Clipping - How late for last clip?

I want to clip my horse - when is the latest I can clip him before his coat needs leaving for it to grow through?

Is it Jan?

I try to do last clip by beginnig of Jan, though so far I have managed to avoid clipping

Bloss always has her last clip middle of Feb and she always gets a gorgeous summer coat.

i clip mine even in the summer as i do endurance, it helps my wooly horse with the heat

End of feb and always have a great summer coat. MInd you I have to clip my hairy horror twice a month from October onwards!!!

Thats good to know - I intend on clipping him this month - but just wanted to check he wasnt going to keel over or anything

I tend to clip late Feb or the minute they start to show signs of molting.

I then get lovely summer coats, though have to clip Cairo out in the summer as he gets too hot.

my mare gets last clip in april then gets a nice thin summer coat. if i leave last clip earler than that then she will grow really thick summer coat and will have to clip all year round.

I clip all year round! You can't beat it horses never too hot and my grey so easy to clean!

I guess it depends. We clipped a horse the week before Badminton once. And clipped one that was going to Saumur (week before Badders). I'll usually do a last one in Feb.
