Clipping - I need your help!

Having had a quick read through the replies it seems that if the owner is clipping the horse is more likely to be ok about it.

I have 14.3 cob, now 8, clipped since 4 year old. Twitched for first 3 years as he was petrified, gradualy introduced trimmers for feather and now stands very calm and happy for full clip and feathers. Never sedated, just let him accept them in his own time. Hope this is helpful!

A big thank you to all who have contributed so far, especially people who have talked about the pros and cons of various sedatives, it is all very helpful.

Hope to hear from more people soon!

fine until went to vet for nerve block on stifle, came back and cant get near him with the clippers even if they are off. Had three winters of IV sedation torbugesic and domosedran. Generally wakes after 15 mins fighting and vet has to top up so can get finished off.
Have been working up to last winter managed to clip three times with no sedation, but took ages to get him to trust me.
Will rear with twitch after so long, wakes up with IV sedation and sedalin has no effect at all.....
