Has anyone heard of the laminitis clip?

Chattin to someone at yard today who wants their horse clipped with the laminitis clip! Apparently it is the reverse of a chaser clip so you take all the hair from the top line and leave the underside full of hair!?

No sounds like a load of rubbish to me.. Thats just a crip someone liked to make up. sorry.

The only laminitis clip i know is the laminitis trim and this is trimming hooves.

Why would you want only the top half clip? does her horse not sweat on his girth?

Lou x

Well apparently by taking all the hair from the topline, the horse the burns the excess fat along there as you only put a light rug on!!!!

It made no sense to me what so ever, so I thought I would ask you lot!!!

Im glad you are just as baffled as me!

I have clipped a fat pony to keep its weight down and help with laminitis but not heard of clipping top half and leaving belly - would look very odd! Plus putting rug on would negate any fat-burning effect, surely?

I just gave mine a normal blanket clip and left him unrugged day time and with a light rug at night and it did help to keep weight off.

Its absolute twaddle and any amount of fat burning off which wouldnt occur anyway as the body would hold onto it if cold....wouldnt assist the poor animals feet!! In fact the stress of feeling that odd and the embarassment would probably bring on a bout of lammy through stress!!!!

Someone is winding you up or is VERY ill informed!

If you want to see a really freaky clip check THIS out

Must be a minature horse thing to show off their heads while they have their woolly coats. I am quite disturbed by it lol!

Never heard of a laminitis clip and can't think what purpose it would serve other than give the horse a chilly back.
