Has anyone heard of the laminitis clip?

Chattin to someone at yard today who wants their horse clipped with the laminitis clip! Apparently it is the reverse of a chaser clip so you take all the hair from the top line and leave the underside full of hair!?

Im not joking and neither were they! they were deadly serious!!!!! They want me to clip it!!!! Im not sure however i want my name tagged to such a ridiculous clip!

Whats the point of it?
The horse mainly sweats under the belly and neck after work.. so why leave it covered in hair to make the horse hotter? The horse will just end up cold backed with no fur up where his saddle goes.. Poor beastie..
