I leave my mares on... TB X and no much hassle to brush, but when we had the cob they were a bl**dy nuisance and were off all year round, same with our shire.

Everything off!! But I have a show cob so his legs are clipped all year. When we are having a break and they are left to grow the hair is so thick you can't get to his legs to see or treat anything. Leg wraps are a must though for when its cold and his legs dry so quickly and after hunting or hard work I like to put some soothing clay on his pins and even with an inch of hair it wouldn't touch the skin!

Off. Everything is coming off this year.

Took the saddle patch of Lex last year (accidentally - she jumped at the wrong moment!) and it didn't seem to hurt her so that is coming off too.

Aiming to leave the mane on if possible though!

Giggles at Sillymare... argh! they always try and move at that vital moment when youre clipping around the mane.

I like to take all the fur off, legs and all!

1st clip - Off
2nd clip - On

That way they're not too hairy but they still have some protection against the mud, wet, cold etc.
