I've always left my horses legs on when clipping, but now i have sexy new tendon boots i feel they'd look so much smarter without his fluffy legs!! I was wondering though, do they get cold legs? Goes it affect their tendons - heating and cooling? And what are the advantages and disadvantages? He has very fluffy legs but fully clipped otherwise!

I mainly showjump, hunt and hack him, he is stabled 24/7. He also gets mud fever on his white sock so clipping could help this too??

My mare had her legs clipped off for the first time this winter and seems to be coping fine. In fact it's been better as she used to get filled legs when stabled but doesn't anymore!

She's usually out 24/7 unless I'm riding then she's in the night before. She hasn't suffered with mud fever which I was worried she might.

I take the legs off of mine and one suffers from mild mud fever occasionally but he seems less prone to it with his legs clipped. It's also a lot easier to treat without loads of hair.

I used to clip my ponys legs out and she was always fine. She very rarely got mud fever but I found it much easier to spot early and treat with ehr legs clipped!
