I really want to clip my hairy fjording Hugo, I bought him at the end of last winter season and he was the proud owner of a stinky thick greasy winter coat (I rescued him from a neglectful home so he never worn a rug before I had him bear in mind I live in norway!). He cannot have that this winter lmao!
Firstly I need recomendations on good clippers to get rid of coarse coat, quiet would be good but powerfull, I am ok with or without cord. I am unsure what type of blades to use on a hairy monster?
My main reason to clip is obviously he gets hot under work as he has thick summer coat even but also to cut down on grooming time as I have a disease where my immune system attacks my muscle so repetative actions such as extended grooming hurts to much and then I am in too much pain to ride and fjordings here in Norway have very thick greasy coats which dirt loves to stick to.
What clip would you recommend... I would love to get rid of Hugos feathers, as fluffy feet take so much time to care for, would a full clip seem a bit harsh? He is stabled on my yard at home (Norway) in an american barn which is insulated, and I am prepared to use heavy weight top quality rugs to make sure he is not cold (rambo supreme outdoor Rambo plus indoor) he currently has rambos but without neck covers so I have to go shopping
!
Some advice to a clipping novice would be gratefully received...
