hi! :)

i am thinking about clipping her feathers of because the mud at my livery yard is getting so bad atm her feathers look like dreadlocks and i cant keep up with them any more! :(a few questions.. :)

do they grow back the same?
if you have clipped them before, how long did yours take to grow back?
does anyone have and before and after pictures of them to give me a rough idea on what they will look like! thankyou! xx

I clipped my cobs feather off about this time last year. It was fully grown back by the summer.
Some people say it doesn't grow back as silky as before but I haven't noticed that much difference.

This is her before...

Mine has dreadlocks for feather at the moment, but I'm baring with it. I'm a firm believer that the mud is better on the feather rather than on clipped out legs and so close to the skin.

ive clipped my boys feathers off much easier to look after in the mud, his grow back fine, i always clipped my coloured mares feathers off & they came back fine everytime but they did grow fast also her mane:o

I've literally taken off the backs of the legs, up to elbows on the front and hocks on the back, ie half the legs at the back, back of hooves up, looks slightly ridiculously stripey but he doesn't mind and no mud clumps now. I prefer doing that then all the legs, somehow feels less cruel?!! His furry elbows were so bad last year and now no problems!!
