Do you think its a good idea to clipp my horse as i have only been riding him now since end of sept to bring him back into fitness after colic op in june! he is sweating but im not doing overly hard work with him but would like to keep him going and get him uber fit! Any opions on what to do and also which clip! Should let you know he has to be sedated and it isnt a pleasant task so will only be doing it once!

When you've finished riding him have a look at where he sweats up. From that you can decide on which clip he needs. Some horses need all off, some a blanlet & some just neck & chest......only clip to see that he is comfortable, fashion shouldn't come into it.

Why don't you do a compromise between a blanket and a trace clip? It's my favourite clip now!
I take off their necks, then follow a blanket clip, but leave their hind legs alone.
It's a fairly quick clip as there are only 4 straight lines to worry about matching, and you don't need to go near his back legs.

I would definitely clip. It will be nicer for both of you. The type of clip is up to you. I tend to go trace on horses that are a bit short and blanket for long backed.
