Work of the devil if you ask me !! 
I would say you could draw the hearts on with chalk and then careful clip around the out line. If you can not draw hearts fold a piece of paper in half, draw half a heart on it and cut around to make a stencil

Sticky back plastic, stick on, trim around. Like blue peter for ponies .

Much as I am embarassed to admit, I have done similar in the past. I actually just do it free hand, but you could use a chalk or maker pen to draw them on before clipping
