Just wondering really, those who have someone in to clip their horses, what do you pay for:
a) Trace
b) Blanket
c) Hunter
d) All off
@ what area are you in? :)

I charge £40 for a full, trace or blanket clip and £30 for a chaser. IME a trace or blanket clip does not take any less time than a full clip as you have to get the lines right and that takes time.

I had two chaser clipped for £30, which I thought pretty cheap. Normally get charged £35 for hunter clip (One horse). I'm in Lincs.

I moving to Newmarket next year to clip the racehorses - £85 a horse is the usual, all sedated and not always a full clip is required!

Around here it's usually £35-40 for a full clip not including legs.

Jeeze, with the demand you'd think it might be CHEAPER in Newmarket, not the rip off price of £85! Why would anyone pay that? Cripes

I absolutely hate clipping which is why I charge £40. I am quite happy not to have the job and encourage liveries to do their own. I was once on a yard though where the YO would not let anyone lend their clippers to others as she said it was stealing potential business. She also charged people with their own clippers £5 for the electricity!

I hunter clipped one at ours last week, I charged £30. I had originally planned on charging £25 but this particular hairy beast has probably blunted the set of blades!

Interesting!
I have been wondering what people are paying and it certainly varies.

Many moons ago, something like 40 years, I bought a pair of Hauptner clippers and a spare set of blades and it came to about £50 - a new set of blades is now about £45!

In the first couple of days those clippers paid for themselves. I charged £10 for a full and £8 Blanket and £5 Trace. First day I did four trace and five Hunter clips. The following 6 Hunter clips. So, I was in pocket for £80

Today the clippers and an extra set of blades would be just under £300.

Working out that five hunter clips covered the price of the clippers and blades today to cover myself I should be charging £60 for a Hunter clip.

I rarely ever go out to clip now, I hate the job!

I charge £35 for full clip, £25 for blanket, £20 for trace. I am in WORCS/GLOS/WARWICKS borders. Also depends on horse, I will consider 'difficult' horses - Its £10 less for ponies
