I am wanting to clip my cob in next couple of week but not sure how much to take off. Any suggestions please?
He currently ridden 4-5 times a week, either 30-40 minutes schooling or 1-3 hours hacking. He is already very sweaty but coat not too thick yet.

Any suggestions how to shift a stubborn belly also gratefully accepted as this horse seems so put weight on in thin air.

Depends on many things, such as...
a) How well does he cope with the cold
b) How much are you prepared to rug him
and the all important
c) How much time does he spend turned out per day?

Finally got a picture to work yay!

He seems to cope ok with the cold, at the moment just has a 100g run on with no neck but have got a 200g with neck ready and am prepared to put a liner in that if needed.
Gets turnout all winter, just in at weekends to give fields a rest when it gets really wet. Stabled at night x

I gave one hairy native who does similar levels of work a bib and belly which has made a big difference to his levels of sweating. I will take more off in his last clip but for now it seems to be doing the trick!

What about a trace clip if you dont want to fully clip? I fully clip my cob and trace clip my sec d, takes his neck and chest out which are the main areas that he sweats. As for the belly problem I also have that with my mare (the coloured cob) i've just put her on naf slimline which was recommended by someone on here. Helps to boost the metabolism but also has vits & mins to make up the shortfall from a restricted diet. Dolly is a gorger so i double up her haynets (small holed) to make it last a bit longer. She is also on restricted grazing to help her drop the weight.
