clipping rug question again!

My big sweaty mare will be getting clipped next week, she currently wears a rain sheet day and night and is toasty warm.
Shes a TB and is getting a bit hairy and very sweaty whilst riding.
I have ordered a HW turnout with neck cover - she lives out. Its still so mild during the day.
So do i clip her (low trace) and for now just put her thermatex on underneath her rain sheet untill it gets really cold then put on her HW - or use the HW when shes been clipped out and if it gets colder put the thermatex underneath??
 
I think you will just need to play it by ear - my mare is clipped out fully and today just had her rain sheet on as it was quite mild. Other days she has had a MW with neck on as her field is quite exposed.

If yours is only having a trace, I think a HW with neck will be a bit too warm at the moment (at least it would be where I live

If you can afford it i would buy a mediumweight, you don't have to spend a fortune. if not, i would see what the weather does on a day to day basis and then decide!

I agree with this. Where do you live? I think you'd be fine with just a rainsheet and a trace clip. It's really quite mild at the moment. Leave the HW for when she's fully clipped (if you feel she needs it) and it gets coler

So you think she will be okay with a clipped neck uncovered at night? live in the west mids, today it was really warm! i know it drops at night see, i might see if i can pick her up a MW cheap from ebay or something.
 
Ive just clipped my boy and he had a MW on yesterday and was sweating this morning so he is now in a LW. He has his neck clipped out. It really is freaky weather at the mo.
