I really really struggle with straight lines when I'm clipping, and can't even draw them straight with chalk, never mind get them equal on both sides

So would it be sensible for me to mark my lines with masking tape, or do you think I'll end up ripping the hair out and making more of a mess???

Also, am I right in thinking that if I do the front leg lines slightly higher it'll transform my stumpy fugly into an elegant dressage star

Face it, you are so bad at clipping that your horse will either look as though it has a bad case of mange, or it fell asleep and a herd of goats chewed its hair off.
Masking tape ha ha he

If you do the front leg lines higher it'll just look as though either you, or your horse was drunk.

spending ages doing them is the only answer. or doing a full hunter clip so there are minimal lines!
i'd do the tops of legs in the right place, or it will look very weird, i think. or clip his legs out completely if he's good... it does make them look very elegant.

I reckon she's half mountain goat, so that's the look we're going to go for... it will match her unkempt mane

You've just given me an idea though, maybe I should just wax the beast. Melt a few candles and rip up a bed sheet to use as strips... I'm sure it won't look any worse

Use masking tape

If you can't draw lines straight, try what I do. Use a bit of bailer twine to measure before you mark! By tying knots on the twine in strategic places you know where to put your lines - I always measure down on each side from the spine. Works for me anyway!

Why is it I can clip hearts & stars on my horses bottom but can't clip a trace clip with straight lines freehand?

If you have problems with getting the lines straight is there any chance that someone could do that part for you & you do the rest? I think it's either that or 'all off'

I think I may have persuaded my mum to go for a full clip so I don't need to worry about getting my lines done

I'm probably clipping on Sunday, so may post pictures of the perfect clip afterwards (or more likely, how not to clip)
