My pony suffered from sweet itch quite badly when I first bought him

Its since more or less all gone, he had steroids a few months back and lost a lot of weight and hasnt really grown a winter coat apart from around his head which is quite hairy

He has scratched his face recently and has bare patches around his eye/cheek area and still has some scabs around his ears/poll, none are sore and I dont understand why they dont seem to be going

I'd like to get his head and ears clipped so I can clearly see what I am dealing with and treat it properly (he comes in at night so wont be left out in the wet/cold all the time)

Is this a sensible idea?

i dont see why not he will look smarter as well and be more comfortable if you can see and treat it

aslong as you dont leave him outside 24/7 nekkid!! ;)

There's been midges around recently so if he has bad sweet itch don't discount the fact that even now he could be affected and cover him up whenever there's a chance the wind will drop and the the temperature rise a few degrees.
