What time of year do people first clip.

Also - what clips do people do on horses that live out 24/7?? I'm going to need to clip my hairy welsh / arab cross. Not sure what sort of clip to do yet but he does get sweaty even in the summer. We do 5 days of work at least each week.

I'll be clipping my mare out next weekend - she is rather fluffy and is working hard so it's just easier all round if we lose the fuzz. That's normal for her, she's always the first on the yard to be clipped.

For a horse living out, IMO it depends on the horse, what sort of turnout you have (sheltered/exposed etc) and what you plan on doing rug-wise - would normally do the minimum you can get away with, maybe a trace?)

I always full clip, stable & rug up. Varies when I do it - last year it was January because she was off work Sept - Dec. Usually around end of Sept/start of Oct though.

Oh no! Not that time of year again!
