Clips, Equi chaps and bitless bridles!

@Ok, 3 Q, suspect it should be in stable yard but never quite got the hang of it so...
Could a fat fluffy connemara pony live out with a very small clip basically the base of his neck and belly w/out a rug?(like a bib clip)

Anybody used any variety of equine chaps for turnout ( have a couple with mud fever, one who needs protected from knocks) What are they like?

And finally...bitless bridles! Have just purchased a libby's one as I've always wanted one. It is a scrawbrig (sp?) and just wondering what they're like to ride in? Does insurance cover you if your hacking in them?
What competitions aren't they allowed in?

imo connie should be able to live out like you said,
i tried a dr cooks bitless bridle on my old connie pony and got on with it in school fine but hacking he bolted, not sure if you're covered by insurance.
don't havea clue about equi-chaps though!
