Definitely young enough (14 months) to get a grip on his training :D

How can you resist with a name like Bruce!!

I absolutely promise, if I had my way I would get rid of the one I have got and if I ever get another I can be excommunicated in all ways. I am very impressed with those of you who have them and like them, but she has beaten me!

Oh, his little face! I’d have him in a flash if it weren’t for puss cat! I always thought 3 wasn’t enough.

I’ll see him tomorrow so I’ll enquire what he’s like with cats!! He’s very good off lead :)

I did wonder if he’s related to Willow as there seems to be an abundance of black & whites at the moment but he’s docked so won’t be the same breeder / greeder.

I must admit my new girl is testing me like I’ve never been tested before or maybe I’ve just got lazy with the other two the last few years.

At least she behaves like a dog now and not some vacant zombie. The lights were on but not a lot else going on when she first came home. Did start to wonder if she was sedated.

Luckily she has an attention span shorter than a goldfish :D

AKA - Bruce needs a clip round the ear hole and a firm owner who won't take any **** from him :p

My poor greyhound was in the vets on Friday with a springer that screamed its head off the whole time it was in the waiting room crate - I voted the vet nurses should strangle it, but at the very least it was an example of why I would never ever have a springer!

Puss cat is Zak, one of my three springers!

Don’t think that’s a typical springer, my lot are generally quiet and certainly don’t scream. Of the 7 I’ve owned or family owned, none screamed. Brig gets a bit excited at the vets, but doesn’t make a noise.

Cockers are definitely more vocal than springers..................I've heard them scream a few times. I've never had a screaming springer though :D

Only ones I've had that have really barked much have been the deaf ones bizarrely.

Sadly Bruce is typical of your average surrendered springer; twelve to twenty four months old, been stuck in a crate or kennel for twenty hours a day. Little socialisation, handling or training. Dog has tolerated this for a while but has now started to make his own entertainment; nipping the kids / grandkids, chewing the furniture, running off on the odd time he does get out for a walk.

Springers don't really ask for much out of life. Give em a home where there's FOOD, WALKS and SLEEP and they're as happy as Larry. It's not often you come across a really manic one and if one comes into rescue, they get offered to the police / prison service if their temperament is good enough. They like the REALLY bonkers ones :D

Clodagh! I was VERY surprised when you announced you were getting a spaniel and have been interested how it has worked out. I just know that I would never in a million years even try.
When I first joined this forum, it seemed lots of people had spaniels and loved them, they called them Spangels!! I could not understand it but was very careful to never say a word against them.
This is the first time that I have admitted my dislike. I am a huge dog lover and like many breeds but I suppose it is just as well that we all have different tastes.

Chiffy, how can you not love a spanner?! Is it flat coats, your breed? I’d love one, we used to take Zak out with one, he was fabulously mad! I can’t imagine they are less bouncy than springers.

Sorry cinnamontoast, you were one of the reasons I always kept my feelings to myself! I think yours maybe less wriggly, hyper mad things that I have found many of them are.
My flatcoats are not at all mad. They are friendly and enthusiastic about life, but very biddable and sensible. They love to learn and can’t wait to please you. They are more like labs than spaniels just with a bit more effervescence.

I must say although I have only met a few flatties, and 2 of them were appallingly behaved (but so were the owner's children - always a sign!) they had nowhere near the manic energy of a spaniel. They were no more 'mad' than our trials bred labs.
